• Welcome to the course on Water Safety Planning (WSP)!

In this course, participants will learn the steps of a water safety plan (WSP), will distinguish between urban WSP and WSP for small systems, and will actively work on a first draft of a water safety plan for a system of choice. The content of the course is based on revised guidance material produced by the World Health Organization.

      Learning objectives:

      • Explain the steps of a water safety plan
      • Use the most appropriate water safety planning approach (urban vs small systems)
      • Develop a first draft of a water safety plan for a system of choice
      • Relate to the common hurdles encountered when developing water safety plans in WOPs

      Schedule:

The course will run over 4 weeks.

In the first week, you will familiarize yourself with the water safety plan concept. The second and third weeks are the core of this course; it is when you will actively work on all the elements of water safety planning. The fourth week of the course is dedicated to learning from the experience of WSP implementers and to preparing the final presentation.
