Tutorial 3: Setting up pyWaPOR for your own case study

1. PyWaPOR set up

To set up pyWaPOR for your own case study you require the following information to configure the set up:

  • bounding box of the study area
  • start and end of the cropping season

The bounding box of your study area can be found from a shapefile. Open the shapefile in QGIS and look in the 'properties' for the 'extent'. Copy this to the python script (check that it is presented as [xmin, ymin, xmax, ymax]).

As we are running the script on a regular laptop, we can only download and process 1 month of pyWaPOR data, select a month in the middle of your cropping season and select 5 days before and 5 days after to run pyWaPOR.

Note: Even if you dont have a high end computer, you could create the seasonal data, one month at a time.
