• Welcome

This training of trainers focuses on providing a general introduction to the WaPOR database and validation of the database. The training will also cover how to use open access and tools to implement typical analyses using the WaPOR data. Based on the interest of the participants additional topics may be covered. The training will initially cover:

      • Introduction to WaPOR data and python programming: Training participants on the WaPORv3 data, how to access the data through the portal and python codes.
      • Data Validation: Participants will learn to validate remote sensing data (e.g., evapotranspiration, rainfall and groundwater use) against field data.
      • Python programming for geospatial analyses. Training participants to use WaPOR data to map key water indicators such as precipitation, evapotranspiration, and land productivity on a seasonal basis for individual fields, using python programming.
      • Specific topics: Depending on the interest of the participants, training may include the mapping evapotranspiration, and land productivity on a seasonal basis for individual fields (water productivity assessments) or irrigation performance indicators.

The aim is to empower local stakeholders to independently access WaPOR data, run analyses, update analyses and visualise the results.

Expected Implementation: July 2025 to December 2025

      Location: Online

Trainer: Seleshi Yalew, Marloes Mul – IHE Delft Institute for Water Education
