As a researcher, you may find yourself having to communicate to the media on behalf of your institution. This might be in the form of a media statement, or actually writing a press release depending on whether your institution has a press office. Either way, taking control of how your research is communicated in the media starts with the preparation you can do before the story reaches the hands of a journalist.
