This course has been developed for the SADC Groundwater Management Institute (SADC-GMI) in cooperation with IGRAC. The objective of this course is to train groundwater professionals to use GIS for groundwater applications. These skills are fundamental for visualizing and analyzing groundwater data. It is also a prerequisite for sharing groundwater data in online Spatial Data Infrastructure platforms like the SADC Groundwater Information Portal (SADC-GIP). The course is designed for hydrogeologists with basic GIS skills.

This course provides basic knowledge about MODFLOW and Model Muse, which can be used to develop, run, and post-process models. MODFLOW in Model Muse combines many of the capabilities found in MODFLOW 6, MODFLOW-2005, MODFLOW-NWT, MODFLOW-USG, and MODFLOW-LGR, and provides a platform for adding packages. No need to register, just follow the classes and webinars.

Integrated Water Resources Management requires exchange of data and information among sectors. Often data is stored in files on harddisks, CD-ROMs or DVDs. This makes it hard to find the data. In addition, metadata is often lacking, which makes it hard to evaluate the quality of the data and to reuse the data.

This is a crash course for trainers in projects where online trainings have to be implemented. It covers the didactics and the design of online trainings.

Over the past twenty years, the knowledge and understanding of wastewater treatment has advanced extensively and moved away from empirically-based approaches to a fundamentally-based ‘first principles’ approach embracing chemistry, microbiology, mathematics, physical and bioprocess engineering. Many of these advances have matured to the degree that they have been codified into mathematical models for simulation by computers.

The general objective of the Urban Drainage and Sewerage course is to provide an understanding of the basic principles and knowledge for the planning, design and construction of urban drainage and sewerage systems. The course is structured under 7 topics: introduction to urban drainage and types of sewerage systems, urban hydrology and hydraulics, dry and wet weather flow characterization, data collection and processing, design and modelling of urban drainage systems, advanced topics in urban drainage, case studies.

toilet Ecological or sustainable sanitation focuses on sanitation beyond providing people with a toilet. It wants to protect and promote human health by providing a clean environment and breaking the cycle of disease. More than that, it aims to be economically viable and socially acceptable; to be technically and institutionally appropriate; and to protect the environment and natural resources.

This course is an open course version of the Online Course on Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) run by IHE DELFT Institute for Water Education as an independent online course or as part of the Graduate Professional Diploma Programme (GPDP). In order to qualify for a certificate or 5 ECTS credit points upon the successful completion of the FSM online course, you would need to enrol for the complete version which includes additional resources, assessments and ongoing support from IHE DELFT experts on the subject. This open version does not lead to any qualifications but is a source of very useful information on FSM issues.

The Computational Hydraulics course provides lecture notes, presentations and assignments related to the modelling of aquatic. The focus is on problems related to shallow water hydrodynamics and water quality, surges and groundwater. The course focuses in the development and analysis of numerical algorithms for fluid flow problems and the implementation of the computational methods on a PC.

Online courses require detailed planning, design, development and testing before delivery. This 6-week course covers the first steps of an online course development process: design & planning. Participants will design an online course and plan its development and implementation, interact with course participants by sharing ideas and providing feedback. An important goal is that this course can lead to further institutional initiatives in online education to increase its impact, with the support of DUPC2.
