    Introduction

    This course provides training to water and agriculture professionals in Iraq on water productivity monitoring for efficient water management in agriculture.

    Learning Objectives

    After the course, the participants will be able to:

    • Explain the concepts of remote sensing for monitoring land cover specific water use and water productivity
    • Understand the conceptual framework behind water productivity
    • Implement water productivity analysis using earth observation data from FAO WaPOR database (https://wapor.apps.fao.org/ ) and interpret the results
    • Able to extend the analysis to elsewhere in the region


    Pre-requisites

    The training will consist of several hands-on exercises. It is necessary to have your own desktop/laptop with preferably Windows 7/10. The participants are expected to have basic experience working with spatial data. All the datasets provided will be open access.

    Software: QGIS 3.16 Long-term release
