Introduction to Module 6
Introduction
In the previous section you developed ways to communicate statistics more clearly and use these to strengthen your message. As a researcher, you may find yourself having to communicate to the media on behalf of your institution. This might be in the form of a media statement, or actually writing a press release depending on whether your institution has a press office. Either way, taking control of how your research is communicated in the media starts with the preparation you can do before the story reaches the hands of a journalist.
Learning objectives
Upon successful completion of this module you will be able to:
- Determine the features of high quality press releases or media statements
- Develop your own press release or media statement
- Establish how to work with the press office in your institution (if applicable)
